CHEYENNE — Hillsdale cowboy Brody Cress was overcome with joy when he saw the horse he drew in the short round of the 129th anniversary Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.
Sitting next to him on the day sheet was none other than THE Black Tie from Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics. That was the horse Ryder Sanford broke the arena record on two years ago, and the one that helped Logan Cook win the CFD title in 2024. Both rides were north of 90 points.
Cress’ ride was the same.
The Cheyenne East graduate posted 91 points from the second-to-last spot in the section to win the CFD championship buckle and pocket $9,157 for his efforts. He took home over $15,000 for his performances during the week.
