WEST WILDWOOD — The Borough Commission wants to end its police department, at least according to some residents.

“They have refused to hire any new officers,” Deborah DiDonato Fox said Monday. She is a critic of an agreement with North Wildwood to provide police protection in the borough, and maintains the three members of the Borough Commission are to blame for the lack of officers in the department.

West Wildwood Commissioner Joseph Segrest said Monday he was not certain how many officers were still employed in the department. He has previously declined to discuss it, citing confidentiality surrounding personnel matters.
