I did not ask for this fight, but I will not back down from it. Being appointed to the Texas Senate Redistricting Committee is a monumental responsibility, and I intend to meet that responsibility head-on.

Let me be clear: Donald Trump is orchestrating a coordinated and dangerous attempt to strip power away from Black and Brown voters in this state. ThThey are targeting congressional districts right here at home with strong Black and Brown representation, not because it’s right, not because it’s constitutional, but because it’s politically convenient.

This is nothing more than a blatant, shameful and racist power grab, rooted in fear of changing demographics and the growing political voice of Black and Brown folks.

ThThis isn’t redistricting, it’s RIG-DISTRICTING.
