The Lompoc City Fire Department has issued 15 citations stemming from illegal aerial fireworks use during the Fourth of July holiday, following the deployment of specialized aerial monitoring — not drones — to enforce the city’s municipal code.

Fire Chief Brian Fallon said the department utilized infrared surveillance technology capable of identifying fireworks violations from above and matching property locations through Assessor’s Parcel Numbers (APNs), providing precise address identification.
