One of Mount Pleasant’s most celebrated Thai restaurants is taking an unexpected pause. Over the weekend, Song by Kin Kao experienced a fire in its building, forcing the Michelin-recognised spot to close temporarily. In a statement shared on Instagram , the team said they were “heartbroken” by the situation but grateful no one was injured. The building remains intact, and they are hopeful the damage is minor.

While cleanup and repairs are underway, the restaurant has launched a GoFundMe to support their staff, many of whom are now left without income or a safety net. “Our staff are the heart and soul of everything we do. They’re not just employees—they’re family,” reads the fund
