A Collin County judge has issued a sweeping gag order in the high-profile murder case involving Karmelo Anthony, a North Texas teen charged in the deadly stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet earlier this year.

The judicial gag order was filed July 28, according to court records. A protective order has also been filed in the case, though its purpose and subject remain unclear.

The order bars attorneys and parties directly involved in the case from publicly discussing specific evidence or details that could interfere with the legal process.

The court’s move comes amid growing scrutiny and ongoing legal maneuvers, including a recent subpoena issued to Frisco ISD.
