ATLANTA — Tom Cousins, a towering figure in Atlanta development and philanthropy as well as the original owner of the Hawks, has died at 93 years old .
He left an indelible impression on the Atlanta skyline, including as the developer behind the city's tallest building, the Bank of America Plaza.
His company, Cousins Properties, was also behind the CNN Center, Georgia World Congress Center, the fourth tallest building in Atlanta, Midtown's 191 Peachtree Tower, the distinctive Pinnacle Building in Buckhead and the iconic original home of the Hawks, the Omni. And he was the philanthropic muscle behind the remarkable restoration of East Lake Golf Club and general renewal of the East Lake neighborhood.
