Kansas City, Kansas police officers are on the scene of a standoff after a man allegedly shot at people walking near an apartment complex Wednesday morning.

A standoff has been ongoing since shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Park Towers, 1011 Central Street, according to Officer Tom Tomasic, a police spokesman.

Tomasic said in an email that no one was injured when the man fired a weapon, and police are actively trying to talk the man out of the apartment.

Those who usually drive on Central Street between West 10th Street and West 11th Street should avoid the area this morning and plan an alternate route.
