FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WKRG) — The City of Fort Walton Beach is looking to become the Cleanest City on the Emerald Coast in a new campaign.
According to a Fort Walton Beach news release, the new campaign will involve both looking at current city properties and parks, as well as encouraging cleanup through 'Adopt a Highway' programs and city volunteer groups.
The 'Adopt-a-Road' program allows groups and businesses to select a half-mile stretch of road and clean it up monthly.
As part of the Biannual Neighborhood Cleanup, throughout August, the city will also be doubling down on trash collection, with crews picking up large trash items such as furniture and appliances from Aug. 4 to 28.
