DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A man has been arrested in Darlington County in connection with an assault last month, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Lucas Davenport was charged with criminal conspiracy and first-degree assault and battery. He was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on Wednesday morning.

Darlington County deputies responded on June 11 to Candy Lane in the Florence area of the county for a burglary, the sheriff's office said. While responding, the deputies learned that the victim was bleeding profusely after being attacked by several people.

During the investigation, authorities learned Davenport allegedly punched the victim in the face multiple times, according to the sheriff's office. They also learned Davenport "conspired with other individuals
