DETROIT — Before the All-Star Break Casey Mize preached that the Detroit Tigers weren’t defined by a rough stretch of results, but rather as the team that led the American League for much of the first half.

Mize had just pitched a brutal outing, allowing six runs in three innings the day after being named to the All-Star team for the first time in his career.

The Tigers have begun to hit their stride again, but Mize continues to struggle on the mound, following an outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday where he went just 1 2/3 innings before being pulled from the game.
