GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Wyndham Championship began its 86th tournament this week, bringing thousands of golf fans, players, and sponsors to the Piedmont Triad.
According to tournament organizers, the weeklong event generates an estimated economic impact of $30 million to $40 million for the region.
“The economic impact is really what I would say is the most important part, in addition to the charity aspect of our tournament,” said Mark Brazil, executive director of the Wyndham Championship. “It’s kind of like a window, the week of the tournament is like a chance for the rest of the world to look-in and see what Greensboro, North Carolina is all about.”
