LINCOLN, Neb. —

Husker Athletics said Wednesday there will be alcohol sales at the Big Red Preview scrimmage in Memorial Stadium on Saturday. That makes the event a trailblazer, the first time fans can purchase beer at a Husker football event.

This comes after the University of Nebraska Regents made the policy change last year, and it follows on the heels of alcohol being permitted in other university sporting events.

"We're expecting that this fall in all of our venues that we don't already have it," Troy Dannen, the UNL athletic director, said back in February. "And we did have a good experience in baseball and softball last year, rolling it out. There's been a great experience of PBA over time. So, we do have those lessons."
