A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was facing criminal charges Tuesday, alleging that she made verbal threats during an off-duty confrontation.
CMPD identified the officer as Jazmin Featherstone, who was hired in October 2023 and is currently assigned to the Eastway Division.
A second person, Shawn Marie Rice, 54, was also charged, accused of pointing a gun at the victim.
The incident was reported shortly after 7 p.m. when someone called the police to report an assault with a deadly weapon. No one was injured in the incident, according to CMPD.
CMPD’s Internal Affairs Division is conducting a parallel investigation. Featherstone was placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome, according to information released by the department.
In a statement, Chief Johnnie Jennings
