HOUSTON (KIAH) - HOUSTON (CW39) — There’s plenty of tropical activity brewing in the Pacific, but the Atlantic remains calm — and that’s good news for now. Experts say Saharan dust moving across the Atlantic is helping to suppress storm development, keeping the region quieter than usual. In the Pacific, however, things are heating up. Tropical Storm Gil has formed with winds of 45 mph, moving west at 15 mph. Forecasters say it could strengthen slightly as it moves toward the north-northwest, possibly approaching Hawaii by late this week or early next week.
