MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Should the death penalty be on the table for people who sexually abuse children in Alabama? Two state lawmakers are aiming to make capital punishment an option in such crimes.
Rep. Matt Simpson (R-Daphne) and Sen. April Weaver (R-Brierfield) have called a Thursday morning news conference to discuss legislation they’re crafting on the matter.
They’ll be joined state Attorney General Steve Marshall, Alabama Sheriffs Association Executive Director Hoss Mack, and Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade for the news conference.
