There have been multiple major headlines this week, and Gilbert Arenas may lay claim to the most shocking of them all. The former NBA star was arrested for allegedly running an illegal gambling ring.

The 43-year-old former hooper and five other people were taken into custody on Wednesday (July 30), cited for participating in an alleged illegal gambling ring hosted in a California mansion where “high-stakes poker games” were played, per the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

Specifically, the Gil’s Arena host was charged with one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, one count of operating an illegal gambling business, and one count of making false statements to federal investigators, per reports
