A.J. Preller pulled off another Trade Deadline blockbuster.

The Padres are adding 26-year-old star closer Mason Miller, along with lefthanded starter J.P. Sears for a package that features the club's top prospect, shortstop Leo De Vries.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan the A's will also get a trio of pitching prospects: Henry Baez, Braden Nett and Eduarneil Nunez.

Miller was an All-Star in 2024, posting a 2.49 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 65 innings. This year the righty has pitched to a 3.76 mark, fanning 59 batters in 38.1 frames. Known for his incredible velocity, Miller's fastball has averaged 101.1 mph in 2025.

Miller is under team control through 2029, while Sears is locked in through 2028.
