The Tigers agreed to acquire right-handed reliever Kyle Finnegan from the Nationals on Thursday, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Neither club has confirmed the trade.

News of the Finnegan deal came shortly after Detroit announced it had bolstered its bullpen by adding Paul Sewald in a trade with the Guardians .

Finnegan has been involved in trade buzz over the years since he emerged as the Nationals closer. Finnegan, 33, is a six-year veteran on an expiring $6 million contract. He was non-tendered by the Nationals in his final year of arbitration eligibility last November, and the Nats signed him to a one-year deal in late February.
