The American League Central-leading Detroit Tigers have acquired Kyle Finnegan, a former All-Star closer, from the Washington Nationals before the MLB trade deadline Thursday.

According to multiple reports, the trade is not yet official as the clock ticks down on the 6 p.m. Thursday deadline. Jeff Passan of ESPN was the first to report the deal was being finalized.

The Tigers will send two pitching prospects currently at Class-A Lakeland Flying Tigers to the Nationals, Josh Randall and R.J. Sales. Jon Heyman of the New York Post was first to report the return on Twitter/X.

Finnegan, a National League All-Star in 2024, is 1-4 with 20 saves this season.
