AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Six suspects were arrested in connection with the June 25 shooting death of a 10-year-old girl as she slept in her Beech Island home .
Aiken County Sheriff Marty Sawyer said Thursday the shooting was retaliation for a Warrenville shooting three days earlier - but the person the shooters were targeting had not lived in the house for a year and a half.
The Warrenville shooting on Sarah Street took the life of an 18-year-old, Sawyer said, and “these gang-banging cowards” fired into the Beech Island house on Dorsett-Kenzie Road in retaliation, Sawyer said.
