LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The gunman who opened fire at a Manhattan office building Monday, killing four people before taking his own life, legally purchased the rifle used in the attack, according to an attorney for the Las Vegas casino supervisor he bought it from.
The New York Police Department identified the shooter as Shane Devon Tamura , 27, a former employee in the surveillance department at Horseshoe Las Vegas.
A senior law enforcement official said Tamura legally acquired the AR-15-style rifle from his supervisor, identified as Rick Ackley . The weapon was transferred on Oct. 2, 2024. Chris Rasmussen, Ackley’s attorney, said the transfer was lawful under both federal and Nevada gun laws.
