The offseason saga of Terry McLaurin has taken a new turn: The disgruntled receiver has requested a trade.

The trade request -- first reported by Jordan Schultz and confirmed by NBC Washington's JP Finlay -- comes after McLaurin ended his holdout over the weekend. McLaurin's arrival at camp was considered by many as a sign of optimism that he and the team were making progress on a new contract. Washington head coach Dan Quinn was "really pumped" to see McLaurin back in the building.

Yet that positivity was short-lived, with Thursday's trade request potentially altering the course of McLaurin's career and the upstart Commanders, who reached the NFC Championship Game last season in quarterback Jayden Daniels' rookie year.
