DAVIESS COUNTY, Ken. (WFIE) - The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash where the driver was thrown from the car.

Officials say the responded near the intersection of Lonesome Pine and Windy Hollow Roads for a car that hit a tree around 20 feet off the road.

They say the driver was thrown during the crash and taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The area, including a portion of Highway 554, was closed for around 2 hours while the DCSO Accident Reconstruction Unity responded to the scene.

They say the car was going eastbound on Lonesome Pine Road when it left the roadway, through a guardrail, crossing a ditch then struck some trees.

According to authorities, alcohol, speed and no seatbelt may have played a role.
