ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Friday morning, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced her retirement, set for August 31.

The announcement comes 15 months after her now-viral interaction with a Webster police officer after she refused to stop when he tried to pull her over.

In July, publicly censured Tuesday by the State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct due to the stop.

In Doorley’s announcement, she says it’s bittersweet, and thanks the community for trusting her with the position. Doorley has worked in the District Attorney’s office for the past 33 years.
