COON RAPIDS, Minn. — Walmart fans in Coon Rapids will have to find a new place to shop when the retail giant closes the doors on its location on Riverdale Drive NW later this month.

A release from the Department of Employment and Economic Development's(DEED) Rapid Response Team says Walmart store 1562 will permanently close on April 29. Approximately 180 employees will be permanently laid off beginning on Oct. 31, but will have a 90-day window to apply for open positions at other area Walmart or Sam's Club locations.

DEED says employees impacted by this closing are not represented by a union.
