CHEYENNE -- Long-standing plans for a gold mine in Laramie County are progressing after five years of internal development.
U.S. Gold Corp., a gold exploration and development company, has been spearheading the project for the past four years. It started exploring the possibility of mining the gold and copper deposit in 2020.
The land is located in the Silver Crown Mining District, which lies about 20 miles west of Cheyenne – neighboring Curt Gowdy State Park – and is home to many historic mines.
The Copper King Mine was developed in 1881 by the Adams Copper Mining and Reduction Company, according to the CK Gold website . In 2016, U.S. Gold Corp acquired 100% of the mineral lease to the property.
According to previous reporting by the Wyoming Tribune Eagle , the mine would likely o
