BOUNDARY COUNTY, Idaho — Law enforcement officers confiscated more than 100 gallons of berries from suspected commercial pickers during a joint backcountry patrol on July 24.
According to the Boundary County Sheriff's Office , the arrests involved the sheriff's office, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Border Patrol and Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Law Enforcement. Officers patrolled remote wilderness areas to ensure safety for recreational users and berry pickers in the county's backcountry regions.
Law enforcement stated that the suspected commercial pickers are believed to be the same individuals who fled from Border Patrol agents during an incident reported earlier this week, allowing Border Patrol to continue their investigation.
