HAMPSTEAD, Md. —

A European-style bakery chain will open two more Greater Baltimore stores this year, filling spaces left behind by the departure of other small-town bakeries.

Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro & Cafe plans to debut its first Carroll County location in Hampstead, as well as a store in Catonsville, Baltimore County, within the next few months. It is the latest expansion for the bakery chain, which doubled in size last year and continues to eye more growth.

The Hampstead store will be the first of the two to open, within the next three to four weeks, said Brody Tennant, who co-owns the business with founder Nemanja "Nem" Popov.

The approximately 2,400-square-foot space at 903 S. Main St. was formerly home to Snickerdoodles Bakery & Coffee House, which moved to Westminst
