PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Extra Innings Baseball League is helping inner-city kids and families gain access to and opportunities to play baseball in the summer.
“We just want to eliminate barriers to entry for kids to enjoy a game that I grew up playing in this area, and this was my way of giving back to our community,” said Gerald Bolden, the general manager of the Extra Innings League.
“Extra Innings is what is giving them the opportunity to continue to play throughout the summer before they go back to school and just have fun and end the summer on a good note,” said Mario Appling, the head coach of the PDX Monarchs.
