WOODVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - Last season, the Woodville Eagles made a historic run to the state championship game. This year, the Eagles will be under new leadership with Head Coach Heath Clawson.

Clawson joined East Texas Now on Friday to talk about the upcoming season. Clawson spent the last four seasons as the head coach at Elgin High School and is excited to be in Woodville now.

“It was intriguing. My cousin lived out here for a few years and said it was a great place and the people were fantastic. He loved living here,” Clawson said. “It was just kind of one of those things that it seemed like God kind of placed it in our path. We jumped on it and we’re excited to be here.”

Clawson says his goal is to make the kids successful on and off the field.
