DES MOINES, Iowa —

Nature is beautifully angry these days. Allow me to explain. I love Nature, with its beauty and unpredictability. I love watching footage of gorgeous landscapes or those photos that appear as the lock screen on the work computers. I love a good thunderstorm, or watching those huge, fluffy snowflakes float down from the warmth of my living room.

Yet, the thing is, I really don’t like being out and actually in Nature, all that much.

Once again, allow me to explain. I feel that over the last couple of decades or so, Nature has decided it wants to kill us. It feels like the little things that used to just be an annoyance, like tiny bug bites or scratches from weeds, can now be carriers of bloodborne illnesses or cause massive blisters.
