Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St. in Gardena, will hold its Obon Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3-4, from 3 to 9 p.m.

Obon is a time to express our gratitude and joy for the causes and conditions and people, past and present, that have made our lives possible.

Taiko performance from 5 to 6 p.m. both days. Bon Odori from 6 to 8 p.m both days. Everyone is welcome to participate. Wear yukata and bring your fans, towels and kachi kachi.

Food booths will offer chicken and beef teriyaki, Spam musubi, sushi, dango, chili rice, shave ice, tamales and bao. There will be carnival games, a giant slide and bounce house for kids, craft boutique and bingo for adults.
