WILLIAMSBURG — About 900 William & Mary students will be relocated to alternate housing after a developer informed the university last week it would not be able to finish construction on three dorms before the start of the fall semester.

University administration notified the students via email Thursday afternoon that Cedar Hall, Pine Hall and Oak Hall — three of the five dorms included in the West Wood Quads project announced in 2023 — would be completed in mid-to-late October, though this is subject to change. First-year students will live in the buildings formerly known as Green & Gold Village and Richmond Hall while returning students will stay in both Richmond Hall and the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites in Colonial Williamsburg, according to the email.
