Local, state and federal agencies have been searching for two days for a boater who’s missing from the Pamunkey River in New Kent County.

Around 7 a.m. Thursday, a small Jon boat was spotted adrift on the river without an operator, authorities said. The boat was spotted near Rockahock Bar Road, the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media .

Multiple agencies are working on recovery efforts, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Virginia State Police, Virginia Marine Police and the Virginia Conservation Police.

Authorities have been in contact with a family regarding the missing person, said Shelby Crouch, a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. No information has been released about that person.
