The Lake Matoaka Trail Challenge 4.3 Miler, the first of three Peninsula Track Club Summer Fun Run Series races, is a unique event. It is the longest continually-held road race on the Peninsula, founded in 1976 by the late John Randolph, then the William & Mary track coach, and later the W&M athletic director.
The event, which started and finished at Zable Stadium on the W&M campus, celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 5. For various reasons, this year’s race was the most noteworthy in its history.
