ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Opera is preparing for its next show, “Rigoletto,” a tragic tale of love, vengeance, and sacrifice.

The actor playing the lead role of Rigoletto, Joshua Conyers, shared insights into the character’s complex nature.

“He’s a father. He works as a jester. And so he has these two lives that know nothing of each other, and they collide, right? And this ultimate curse that’s in this show. Just kind of shows the downturn and the spiraling that this man goes through throughout the entire journey of this opera,” said Conyers.

Conyers added that he has been learning about this character for a decade.

“So he’s multi-faceted, he’s multi-layered. And it just takes a lot of study. I’ve been studying this role for almost 10 years,” said Conyers.
