Friday marked the first official day of practice for the Hampton University Pirates as they begin preparations for the upcoming football season. Head Coach Trent Boykin enters his fifth year with the program and his second as head coach, though this will be his first full season in the role.

Boykin was named interim head coach prior to the start of last season and was officially promoted six games into the year. The Pirates went on to finish the 2024 season with a 5-7 record.

Now, with a full offseason under his leadership and a tough schedule ahead, the Pirates are aiming for a fresh start as they begin a new chapter under Boykin’s direction.
