Mini-Library to close
Boyle Heights: The temporary Benjamin Franklin Branch Mini Library will close today, Friday, Aug. 1, as work begins on the next phase of renovations to the main library building, according to the L.A. Public Library. The main building has been closed since the start of the pandemic in 2020 and remains shuttered as it undergos extensive renovations, which have taken far longer than expected. Officials earlier this year said the temporary library, which opened in 2022, would have to close before work on the main branch is completed next year. The neighborhood's two other libraries -- the Malabar and Robert Louis Stevenson branches -- remain open.
