Leicester City’s squad size “doesn’t make sense” and will leave Marti Cifuentes with unhappy players and with routes blocked for young talents, the manager has said.
Conor Coady’s move to Wrexham starts the process of City whittling down their squad but plenty more exits are needed to get them in shape.
Adding together those used by Cifuentes in pre-season so far, injured senior squad members, and new signing Asmir Begovic, there are 34 players for the manager to choose from, even after Coady’s exit.
Even with 10 fewer players, the Spaniard said it would be a difficult number to manage, and so he’s keen to trim the squad, especially now he has a better idea of who fits into his plans.
