The Southeast Texas Stand Down event was held Friday, August 1, at the Jasper County Annex Building, drawing a crowd of 273 people. That number included 123 veterans, 61 non-veterans, 70 vendors, and 19 volunteers.
This event, made possible by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Jasper County, the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission, and the American Red Cross, offered vital services and support to veterans in the region.
Veterans received help with clothing, shelter and housing resources, disability and VA claims assistance, medical and mental health screenings, legal services, and COVID-19 vaccinations.
