There has been another blow to the economy of Jasper. The management of the Parker's Building Supply store at 609 West Gibson Street have announced that the location will close doors on August 29th. However

A statement from the parent company from Scott Bibb of the parent company Higgenbotham Brothers said "Parker's Building Supply will be realigning our locations to better leverage our strengths and operations." However, Bibb went on to say "We appreciate your support over the years and hope to retain your patronage in these neighboring locations", speaking of Woodville, Silsbee and Pineland which he said would remain open.

It is not known how many jobs will be lost here as a result of the closure. Attempts to reach the management for additional information were unsuccessful.
