BNSF Railway is moving forward with plans for its Logistics Park Phoenix project coming to the northwest Valley, but officials say they are open to working with local communities to address some concerns.

There could be more time to talk as the railway plans to push a vote on one part of the proposal for a combined vote on rezoning and its project later this fall.

Lena Kent, BNSF Railway general director of public affairs, responded to the Surprise Independent’s July 28 request for comment about questions that include residents’ fears of increased traffic congestion, pollution and safety, and the status of an upcoming meeting before the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
