YORK, Pa. — At 70 years old, Roxanna Strine of York County is on the verge of completing the entire 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail , a feat achieved by only a fraction of those who visit the historic route stretching from Georgia to Maine.

Strine began her journey in March, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail. The six-month trek has taken her through mountainous terrain, diverse weather, and countless natural landscapes.

“It was a bucket list that I had for many, many years, and the time was just right,” Strine said. “I was totally excited… it’s like one step in front of the other, and I can’t believe I’m doing this. It’s finally happening.”
