(BCN) -- A convicted felon and a teenage boy were arrested early Friday after attempting to break into a business in Corte Madera, police said.

Central Marin Police responded just after midnight to the 1800 block of Redwood Highway after a security guard spotted two masked suspects allegedly trying to smash the windows and doors of a retail store, according to the police.

Officers arrived within minutes and found a running gray sedan abandoned in a fire lane nearby, Central Marin police said.

With help from the Marin County Sheriff's Office, police secured the shopping center and detained two suspects wearing hoods, masks and sunglasses near the business. Surveillance footage confirmed they were the same individuals seen trying to force entry, officers noted.
