Montreal police are investigating a deliberate vehicle crash into the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) divisional headquarters in Westmount. The incident occurred around 9:25 a.m. when a 44-year-old man drove his vehicle through the main entrance of the building on Dorchester Boulevard.

According to police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, the driver was initially seen approaching the building on foot. He later returned to his vehicle and drove slowly but steadily into the entrance. The crash caused significant damage, shattering glass at the front door. Fortunately, two RCMP officers inside the building at the time were unharmed.

The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Brabant indicated that the suspect may have been experiencing mental health issues and could have been in a state of crisis during the incident.

Investigators plan to question the driver once his health permits. The RCMP's Quebec division has referred all inquiries regarding the incident to Montreal police.
