HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- School supplies were party favors at a block party Saturday in the capital city.
Families came out to the Pennsylvania STEAM Academy parking lot on North Third Street in Harrisburg for the 4th annual back-to-school block party.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Pennsylvania hosted the event.
In addition to free school supplies, there was also a community resource fair, games and activities, and more, all to help prepare for the new school year.
"Part of it is the school supplies. You want to backpack and pencils," Amanda Dunn, vice president of programs for BBBS of South Central PA, said. "Part of it, though, is to have those new shoes, to have that haircut. So really feel completely ready for back to school."
Over 400 families registered to attend.
