At 28 years old, Katie Ledecky is not slowing down in the pool, and for that, her dominance continues on the sport's biggest stage.

The legendary women's swimmer defended her crown in the 800m freestyle at the world championships by edging out Canadian Summer McIntosh in the final 100 meters to win the race at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore on Saturday, Aug. 2.

With her winning time of 8:05.62, Ledecky, who has been a volunteer coach for Florida's men's swimming and diving team since 2021, became the first-ever swimmer to win a singular event seven times, as noted by NBC's broadcast.
