Abdul Fatawu lit up Leicester City’s final pre-season game as Marti Cifuentes’ men prepared for the new Championship campaign with a 2-0 victory over Fiorentina.

The winger, making his first start since his ACL tear nine months ago, put his pace, skill and confidence to exceptional use to create the first goal and score a superb second.

The goals capped a strong all-around performance from City, one full of intense pressing, quick attacking and defensive security, and it bodes well for next weekend’s fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

For the final pre-season friendly, the line-up was expected to be close to the one Cifuentes plans to field against the Owls.
