OAKDALE, Pa. —

A volunteer fire department in Allegheny County is asking residents to check their home cameras after nearly $10,000 worth of equipment was stolen from the department's assistant chief.

In a post on Facebook Sunday, the Oakdale Hose Company said at about 2:20 a.m., the department's assistant chief had about $10,000 worth of public safety radio equipment stolen from his truck. Advertisement

The department said a Motorola APX 8000 All Band portable radio and a Motorola APX 6000 portable radio were among the items taken.

Oakdale Hose Company Fire Chief Jim Snatchko touched on the importance of the APX 8000 radio during an interview with Pittsburgh's Action News 4 Monday.
